Wenlock CE Academy With God’s love, we are lights for the world

Our Vision and Values

Vision

Our school vision underpins everything we do at Wenlock:

‘With God’s love, we are lights for the world’

With God’s love in our hearts, we are eager to reach our goals and stretch our limitless imaginations to build our futures and create aspiring leaders. Everyone is welcomed and respected for their unique contributions as we flourish and grow. Our Christian values help us to keep safe, go above and beyond to build the foundations that shape our school.

This vision is rooted in the biblical verse; Matthew 5: 14 - 16

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

The Christian ethos encompasses the whole of our school community and is reflected in our half-term values. These values thread through the whole school curriculum and enable every child to develop as a moral, social, spiritual and cultural human being. Every child, whatever their background, will be valued as a unique child of God and will be enabled to grow in confidence and self-belief.

All children are encouraged to show responsibility and think of others and themselves. We have an active School Council and Eco Warriors. Children are invited to work in the school office at lunchtime, which allows children to play an important part in developing our school.

Our half-term values are firmly embedded as a key structure of our curriculum. These values are embedded in all areas of school life as we support our children to become spiritual, reflective learners.

We aim to excite and interest our pupils so that they become independent learners who develop the confidence and skills to take responsibility for their own learning. We work together to provide a supportive yet challenging education within the love of God that engages all children. We recognise that our pupils are unique children of God whose lives are enriched by their home life and culture, alongside the lessons they learn at our school. Together we work to create a school of happiness. Confident children who develop good learning and citizenship habits that will last a lifetime.
