Wenlock CE Academy With God’s love, we are lights for the world

Governance

Welcome to our Governance page

Wenlock CE Academy joined the Diocese of St Albans Multi Academy Trust (DSAMAT) in February 2023.

DSAMAT was founded by the Diocese of St Albans, and is a Trust working with schools across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.  The DSAMAT community has a strong commitment to a shared mission.

This is underpinned by our shared values:

Enabling all to flourish: Rooted in God’s Love

Hope, nurture, collaboration, equality, respect

Our Trust is governed by a range of bodies:

Our Members are appointed by the Diocese of St Albans Educational Trust.

Members have strategic oversight for the work of the Trust, and include
representatives from the Diocesan Board of Finance and Diocesan Board
of Education. These bodies reflect the range of skills required to oversee

an Academy Trust.

Trustees, also known as Directors, of the Trust are appointed by the
Members and have strategic responsibility for its running of the Trust. The
Trust schools have Local Governing Boards (LGBs) who provide local

governance to each school, and feed into the wider strategic work of the

Directors.

Local Governing Boards

Individual academies are governed at a local level by their own Local
Governing Board (LGB). LGBs have a level of delegated responsibility
from the Directors which is outlined within the Governance Framework and

financial delegation.

Wenlock's Local Governing Board

Our LGB is made up of local stakeholders who represent the different parts
of our Academy’s community, with the objective of providing Wenlock CE
Academy with sound governance within the overarching governance
structure of the Diocese of St Alban’s Multi Academy Trust (DSAMAT).
Our primary objective is to ensure the best outcomes for the Academy’s

children and young people.

The LGB consists of a maximum of nine members and should include
parents, staff and appointed governors. Our LGB meets around six times a
year. As part of the DSAMAT, Wenlock CE Academy operates under an

agreed Governance Framework.

If you are interested in being a part of the LGB please speak to Ms Burke

or Mr Hudson.

To contact the LGB, please contact the Academy directly and mark your
correspondence to the attention of the Chair of Governors.
Note: For the day to day running and management of the Wenlock CE
Academy, the first points of contact are the admin team, class teacher and

Head and Assistant Headteacher.

Who are we?

Simon Salem  Chair of Governors
(To contact the chair use the school address/ email)

I was selected as Chair soon after the School joined the multi-academy trust in early 2023. I am a firm believer in the right of every member of our society to have a good education. Being a school governor is one way of doing that. I have been a governor in other schools, and a trustee of many local and national charities. I am helping at the moment with a small charity called Ancestors Unknown which delivers specialised teaching to support primary school pupils in researching their family history.

Subject to recruitment - Safeguarding Governor

Mr Joseph Adewale - Community Governor

Olivia Burke - Head Teacher

I was lucky enough to be appointed Headteacher at Wenlock, in April 2023. I was once told that the
school is never yours, just that you become the custodian for a short time in its history, the aim being
to leave it in a better place than when you found it.  Being the headteacher of such a wonderful

school, with an amazingly dedicated team is an honour.

Rachel Anderson - Staff Governor

I have been a teacher at Wenlock for the last twelve years, and was fortunate enough to
complete various work experience placements here prior to that. Wenlock holds a very
special place in my heart and I am excited to sit on the school's governing board to help
the school continue to flourish on its new and exciting journey with the Trust.

Isaac Adegbola - Parent representative

Subject to recruitment - Parent Representative 2
