Geography Overview

At Wenlock CE Academy, our geography curriculum is thoughtfully designed and carefully sequenced to ensure every child’s knowledge and understanding grow throughout their learning journey with us. We focus on building secure foundations in core geographical knowledge and skills, which pupils can confidently apply both in the classroom and as curious, responsible citizens in the wider world.

Our curriculum is structured to allow children to deepen their understanding of geography through progressive study of our local area, Luton, extending to our county, the wider UK and global communities. Each year group explores geography throughout the academic year, with an emphasis on establishing key knowledge in the autumn term. This core knowledge is then applied and revisited in meaningful contexts across the rest of the year, supporting children to develop their enquiry-based skills.

By the time they leave Wenlock CE Academy, our pupils are equipped not only with essential geographical knowledge and vocabulary, but also with the curiosity and confidence to explore and understand the world around them.
