Our Key Strengths:
Safeguarding Standards Met
Inspectors confirmed that safeguarding standards are met, recognising that we have established an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and concerns are actively identified, acted upon, and managed. As a result, pupils are made safer and feel safe. OFSTED 2026
Strong Standard in Inclusion
We are particularly proud that our inclusion provision was graded as 'Strong Standard'. Inspectors found that we have highly effective systems to identify pupils' specific needs early, and that staff respond to pupils' needs with great care and accuracy. Our well-trained staff makes effective adaptations to the curriculum that precisely match pupils' identified needs. OFSTED 2026
Strong Standard in Personal Development and Wellbeing
Our personal development programme received a 'Strong Standard' grade. Inspectors recognised that pupils build secure knowledge about relationships, health, personal safety, and future aspirations. They noted that we have developed ways to ensure pupils experience a deep sense of belonging, with many pupils becoming ambassadors who make a positive impact on school life. OFSTED 2026
Expected Standards Achieved
We achieved the 'Expected Standard' in:
- Attendance and Behaviour – Inspectors noted that pupils' attendance has improved over time and that older pupils are proud to say behaviour has improved because staff are clear and consistent about rules and rewards. OFSTED 2026
- Curriculum and Teaching – The curriculum is broad and designed effectively so that pupils build their knowledge and skills over time, with teaching that is typically effective. OFSTED 2026
- Leadership and Governance – Since joining the Diocese of St Albans Multi-Academy Trust, leaders and governors have united effectively to define the school's vision, putting pupils' interests first. OFSTED 2026
What Pupils Say About Wenlock
Inspectors found that pupils love coming to our caring school. They know that having high hopes for their future is exciting and important, and they benefit from an improved curriculum and effective teaching. Pupils enjoy a range of activities at playtime that suit all interests, and they proudly talk about the opportunities they enjoy, including choosing their own clubs. OFSTED 2026
Our Next Steps
We are committed to continuous improvement. Inspectors identified that we should ensure gaps in pupils' knowledge, especially in reading, writing, and mathematics, are identified and addressed consistently so that pupils achieve well, particularly in the statutory tests at the end of key stage 2. We should also further develop teaching across the school to ensure that pupils learn the curriculum, including the wider curriculum, consistently well. OFSTED 2026
We are already working hard on these priorities and are excited about the journey ahead as we continue to provide the very best education and care for every child at Wenlock.
School Performance:
Whilst the number on their SATS Scores does not define our children, we are proud of our children's progress. The children in Wenlock have worked incredibly hard and achieved some outstanding personal goals throughout their time with us.
While the SATs results are important, they only tell part of the story. Our children are not just school pupils but artists, athletes, and hard workers. They have shown their creativity, represented our school in sports teams, and made significant strides in becoming lights for the world.
We would love to talk to you about our journey and how we support our pupils to become resilient leaders of the future.
